Iron removal from copper electrolyte. This project was the first commercial installation of this patented (Dreisinger & Shaw US Patent 5,948,264) technology. Fabrication was conducted off site with final assembly and commissioning completed on site by Fenix personnel.
Project activities included:
- An extensive stakeholder consultation to identify the optimal system configuration and circuit integration
- Engineering review to include client representative ensuring all specifications, equipment selection and safety features were included to meet clients existing site and safety standards/requirements.
The results of this work delivered a significant cost saving to the site and was also partly responsible for enabling the site to achieve record production numbers. Fenix was recognised for the successful commercial application of this novel technology by the US Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) 2005 EPD Extraction & Processing Science Award (The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society‘s Extraction & Processing Science Award) in recognition of a paper that represents notable contributions to the scientific understanding of the extraction and processing of nonferrous metals.
